The 2016 Lulu Awards: Silent Auction
In order to give people who can’t make it to the event a chance to bid on some special items, we are making a few of our silent auction items available for online bidding in advance of the event. If you would like to bid on any of the items below, but are not attending The 2016 Lulu Awards at AWP, please email email@example.com and include the following information:
- your name
- your contact information (phone and email)
- the item(s) you would like to bid on
- your starting bid amount (there is a required minimum bid posted with each item)
- maximum bid amount for each item(s)
There will be auction attendants onsite during the silent auction event to bid on the item(s) for you, up to your specified maximum bid amount. All bidding will be done according to the bid increments posted with each item, we won’t use your maximum bid unless the bidding escalates step by step to that amount. Your bid will never be advanced over another bidder by more than the bid increment. (For example, let’s say the minimum bid for a given item is $500 and the bid increment is $100 and you enter a starting bid of $600 and a maximum bid of $900. Let’s say your $600 bid is the only bid coming out of the online auction. Then at the silent auction, another bidder bids $700. Your bid will then become $800. If no one else bids again, you win). In the event of a tie between winning bids, the auction winner will be selected by random lottery.
Online bidding is open from Sunday, March 27th at 3pm to Thursday, March 31st at 5pm. Silent auction is open from 5:30 pm to 7:15 pm on Thursday, March 31st. Winning online bidders will be notified on Friday, April 1st. All payments must be made same day via Paypal. Winning auction bids are not deductible, as Lulu is not yet a designated non-profit by the IRS. We will be soon, though!
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.

Writing Coaching for One Year with Anna March $2600 value
Writing can feel damn lonely and the road to finishing projects and publishing them is hell. A coach who does more than just cheerlead can be just the ticket to getting the work finished and out the door. Lulu co-founder Anna March (Modern Love, NY Magazine , VQR, Tin House, and regularly at Salon) will be your writing coach for one year to help you clarify your goals and meet them. (She’s recently completed a novel and a memoir and knows how tough it can be to write your way to the end.) She will give you advice, help you break through blocks in your writing and your productivity, help you brainstorm about editors and agents if that’s needed, help you develop your materials and open up new way of thinking about your writing and writing projects. She’ll be an honest friend, supporter, sounding board and voice of reason. Every two weeks you will send her an email update about what’s going on – as long or brief as you want and then you two will talk for 30 minutes. In between those calls, you can send her an email and she will send a thoughtful reply. That’s 26 phone calls with Anna and 26 emails from her.And if things get REALLY crazy for you, you can always text. Anna will be on call for you if something’s pressing like a writing therapist. Anna will offer practical support, encouragement, and will guide you as you make connections with editors, agents and other writers as appropriate. She will be an ally on the road to meeting your goals.
